Hope. August 25th, 2008
"The American, by nature, is optimistic. He is experimental, an inventor and a builder who builds best when called upon to build greatly." John F. Kennedy

That's the way I look at Barak, he's an optimistic American, an inventor, a builder, and he will build best when called upon to build greatly.

Call upon him.

August 16th, Birthday time in Brooklyn
On August 16th (just so happens it was my birthday) we got together with 20 or so friends in Brooklyn.

Below, we've just finished a mountain of BBQ before heading back to our friend Kimo's new restaurant.
(that's Kimo there...showing his big guns to GC)

I'll have to get the name of this place and re post, if you're ever in Brooklyn and find yourself wanting for BBQ, this place is the bomb. (You might want to leave your vegan friends at home for this one). You order everything by the pound, and beer by the gallon. Awesome!

August 19th, New York, New York
IMG_0359.jpgNow that's a house.

The home of Julian Schnabel (the red mediteranian looking place in the back of the photo)

Ya...the whole building, all 17 stories

Dining out with the Celebs of NY
That's me below (right), and yes, that is Andy Garcia standing right behind me. Just happened to walk into the restaurant we were eating at. Looked like he was on a family outing so I deferred from having him sign my head or anything...

Lia and PJ, yucking it up along the Hudsen River waterfront.

If you haven't been there in years, you're in for a real surprise. They have fixed up the waterfront with a beautiful waterside promenade and are presently renovating most of the old buildings in the district.

Choice property...if you're in the upper financial stratosphere.

Checking out some available downtown real estate.

Needs a little TLC. Comes with the art pictured here.

I think I remember some virgin sacrifices being performed here back in the early 80's.

More of the East End, August 2008
Some random shots from the East End.

Typical beach view, East Hampton, NY
The beaches here are extraordinary, if you have never been. Wonderful rolling sand dunes, beach grass, and beautiful warm Atlantic surf.

The perfect beach cruiser...nice!

Checking out the local real estate market. This place looks like it will work out fine.

Ma & Pa Kettle, taking it easy
I have no idea what you call this, but we saw a number of folks doing it. I guess if you don't have the curls, doesn't mean you can't go out for a little paddling around. Every once in awhile they'd catch a small wave and "surf" it in. Funny. (no, that's not me on the board)
